1/7/2014 Day 1 - All In!![]() By Jeremy Duggins, Associate Pastor Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. -Jeremiah 29:12-13 God wants every part of us. He wants our whole heart. He wants us to run after Him with reckless abandon. He wants us to trust His Word and expect that His promises will become a reality in our lives. When it comes to our faith, God wants us to go all in! Often times we never receive the breakthrough that we're hoping for because we're praying lukewarm prayers to an all in God. God doesn't want us to keep begging for breakthrough, He wants us to expect it! Not because we deserve it but because He is such an amazing Father and it brings Him pleasure to meet the needs of His children. When we speak to God with a low level of expectation it does not get His attention. Daniel was an all in kind of guy. The first time he goes all in is when he “purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king’s meat nor with the wine he drank (Dan 1:8)." Normally that move would have gotten him killed. But it's impossible to kill a man that God has a plan for. Not only was his "Daniel fast" approved, but he ends up being stronger and wiser than all the others and eventually he gets promoted. How's that for a breakthrough! Daniel continues to go all in with his faith for the rest of his life. When King Nebuchadnezzar demanded an interpretation to his disturbing dream none of his magicians or astrologers could deliver so Daniel steps up to the plate and asks God to reveal the kings dream to him. This was an all in move because if he was wrong it was going to cost him his life! But Daniel trusted and God delivered. After interpreting the kings dream Daniel was promoted and God was glorified. Later on the king made a decree making it illegal to pray to Yahweh, but Daniel prayed anyways. He was then thrown into a den full of hungry lions. But he was unharmed and God was glorified. Are you starting to see a pattern in Daniel’s life? When Daniel went all in with God his breakthrough always followed! Can I be honest with you? Sometimes our "faith" is too safe. We love reading about the biblical heroes but when it comes time for us to go all in we find ourselves all out of faith. I want to encourage you today to trust God with everything and go all in. When we give God our whole heart it perfectly positions us to receive the breakthrough we have been praying for. Friends, your breakthrough is coming! Start praying all in prayers and pursuing all in dreams. Start expecting all in miracles because God is able! Go all in...... Your personal breakthrough is coming! Questions for Reflection: 1. What are the things in your life that are preventing you from going all in with God? 2. Are you willing to give those things up and go all in this year? 3. Are you expecting a personal breakthrough during this fast?

Great way to start the fast, Jeremy. I love the line, "it's impossible to kill a man God has a plan for." Jonah would agree.

It's good to know that Daniel was not always in ideal situations, but he was still obedient to God and what He wanted. Daniel in the lions den can easily be chalked up as an old Bible school story from our childhood. But, if you sit on those words for a while, you see all of God's power AND promises fulfilled! This is going to be a very fulfilling fast to everyone who is truly seeking and obedient to God!

As day one of our fast is coming to a close I just want to encourage everyone to keep pressing in! God answered Daniels prayer on day one but Daniel didn't receive his breakthrough until day 21. You never know when Gods answer is coming but you can be sure he hears your prayers. Be patient, persistent, and expectant! A breakthrough from heaven is always worth the wait!
